Aer Lingus has unveiled its Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) rugby livery with its A320 ‘Green Spirit’ Fachtna aircraft. It features IRFU players Robbie Henshaw, Caelan Doris, Josh van der Flier, and Tadhg Furlong, and accompanied with a rugby ball decorated with a shamrock on its tail. ‘Official Airline of the Irish Rugby Team’ is embellished on the side of the aircraft.
The painting was completed by International Aerospace Coatings at its Shannon facility and took nine days to complete with 15 specialists working to apply the decals.
Aer Lingus became the official airline partner to the IRFU in 2015 with the first ‘Green Spirit’ then introduced to the world. 2015 saw the Irish Rugby team flown to the Rugby World Cup in England as well as to Rome, Wales, and Scotland during the Six Nations tournament.
The men’s rugby team will be welcomed aboard the new A320 Green Spirit into London for the fourth round of the Six Nations as they take on England on March 9, 2024.
