First and business class passengers on Japan Airlines flights from London to Japan are to get an “exclusive menu” from Daisuke Hayashi, head-chef and owner of London restaurant Roketsu.
Hayashi has won a Japanese government award for promoting the country’s food abroad and trained at a triple-Michelin-starred Kyoto restaurant.
The menu for high-rollers will include Japanese rice flour noodles, which Hayashi said “offer a different texture and unique taste to wheat flour noodles”.
The Japanese agriculture ministry and the country’s rice export promotion body have backed the menu offering, which JAL hopes will “lead to further expansion of rice-flour demand and exports for Japanese specialities”.
