After a troubled late 2022 in which it cancelled thousands of Christmas flights and later reported huge losses, Southwest Airlines has won some respite by being on Fortune’s 2023 list of World’s Most Admired Companies.
The airlines came in 23rd overall and third among the airlines listed. “It’s truly an honour for Southwest Airlines to be among Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies this year,” said Bob Jordan, the carrier’s president and chief executive.. “We consider this a recognition of our strong brand, our terrific employees, and the extraordinary ways they serve each other and our customers.”
The list was derived from a survey of 5,000 senior executives, outside directors, and industry analysts, 645 companies in 27 countries were assessed based on a set of nine attributes.
