FC Barcelona and Vueling have unveiled the design of the new Barça Women plane, featuring an image of some of the squad’s players representing the team.

This is the first plane dedicated exclusively to the team, led by Jonatan Giráldez, and is also the first time that a women’s football team in Europe has had a commercial airline with its image on it.

The plane was presented at an event in the hangar of the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport and was attended by Aitana Bonmatí, Fridolina Rolfö, Patri Guijarro and Ingrid Engen, four of the five players featured on one of the sides of the plane, as well as Caroline Graham- Hansen. Also in attendance from FC Barcelona were Elena Fort, Vice-President of the Institutional Area, and Xavier Puig, Director responsible for women’s football. Vueling was represented by Sandra Hors, Chief Communications Officer, Institutional Relations and Sustainability, and Carolyn Prowse, Chief Commercial, Customer, Network and Strategy Officer.

The A320 aircraft will feature the new vinyl at the end of the season, showcasing a design that combines Barcelona’s blue and red colours and crest, with the image of eleven players representing the team. While on one side the players who were present at the reveal event, the other side features Keira Walsh, Salma Paralluelo, María León, Alexia Putellas, Lucy Bronze and Ona Batlle.

The interior of the plane has also been customised, sporting blue and red headrests that also include this line, along with some vinyl wraps that promote the partnership.

The agreement is in force in Europe, Israel and North Africa (Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria) and also includes Vueling’s commercial activations during matches at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, collaborations in creating digital content and distributing on the platforms of both organisations, among other initiatives.

Xavier Puig, FC Barcelona Director responsible for women’s football, said of the plane: “This agreement means exploring new avenues for expanding the Barça brand around the world, once again putting the women’s team at the forefront of the Club. This agreement, the result of the meeting of two proudly Barcelona-based brands, is basically a recognition of FC Barcelona’s work to promote women’s sport and we thank Vueling for highlighting a team that has broken the mould and wants to continue making history.”

Sandra Hors, Chief Communications Officer, Institutional Relations and Sustainability at Vueling, issued the following statement: “We are especially proud of this historic partnership with the Barça women’s team that has been able to change the world. A union that highlights the values shared by both organisations: Barcelona-based, the city that unites us, the commitment to female talent and the commitment to change the world and do things differently. Thanks to Vueling, FC Barcelona becomes the first European women’s football team to have its image displayed on a plane, an iconic action that highlights the potential of these players as role models for new generations.”
