Airbus has unveiled its full electric eVTOL aircraft, the CityAirbus NextGen. It is expected to have its maiden flight later in 2024 and will be suited for operations in major cities for various missions.

“Rolling out CityAirbus NextGen for the very first time is an important and very real step that we are taking towards advanced air mobility and our future product and market,” said Airbus head of urban air mobility Balkiz Sarihan.

It coincides with the new CityAirbus test centre in Donauworth, which is dedicated to testing systems for eVTOLs, and is part of Airbus’ ongoing and long-term investment into advanced air mobility (AAM). The centre began its operations in December 2023.
