Italian flag carrier ITA Airways is to fly Pope Francis to Budapest for his late-April apostolic visit.
The airline announced it would carry the pope on an Airbus A320neo, which it described as “a technologically efficient aircraft that guarantees lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions” compared to older models.
“For ITA Airways it is an honourĀ [to] accompany the Holy Father for his Apostolic Viaggio”, the airline said in a statement announcing the flight, for which it said would in part use sustainable aviation fuel, along with jet kerosene.
The flight will depart Rome Fiumicino on April 28.
