Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has made a $100,000 donation to disaster response work in Turkey and Syria following earthquakes in early February that killed over 50,000 people.
The money is to go to Airlink, a humanitarian disaster logistics non-profit which provides free of charge airlift and logistical solutions to a global network of over 150 non-profit partners.
“Air Lease Corporation is continuing its leadership role in the aviation industry in helping Airlink deliver humanitarian relief to communities in crisis,” said Todd Freeman, board chair of Airlink.
“At ALC, our hearts go out to those impacted by this devastating earthquake. Our support of Airlink is ongoing in its vital role to help relief efforts in Turkey and Syria, and globally,” said John L Plueger, ALC’s chief executive and president, and Steven F Udvar- Házy, the executive chairman.
ALC said that Airlink has delivered over 250 tons of relief supplies and has 1,300 tons in the pipeline, including shelter, winterisation items, sanitation, hygiene, and medical supplies, It ran free flights for 135 humanitarian personnel including search and rescue teams within the first 24 hours of the earthquake.
